What you can expect with a refinish service
The smoothest possible sanding. There are other companies who just won't go the extra mile but we will always sand to the smoothest grit recommended, such as 100 for oak. Of course, we use the best equipment with our Clarke drum and edger sanders
Take care of discoloration. We use a water popping technique to go back over areas that need more TLC after sanding. We also perform a thorough bright light examination of the whole floor and correct any missed sanding marks with random orbit sanders before a final high grit screen sanding.
We care about dust! Before sanding begins, we make every effort to have a plan to contain dust. This means covering cabinets, blinds, windows and closing off other areas of the property where dust might travel unwanted with plastic. We also employ a high-end two motor powerful vacuum to attach to our edger and random orbital sander. We also vacuum between grits. We will also shut down your HVAC system and cover your vents and also deploy a window fan.
How about a 3 coat finish? Yes, that's right. Right now we feature a Dura Seal 3 coat finish applied with lambs wool, which requires extra product, but gives a gorgeous quality look. Some companies will tell you they do three coats but count the sealer as a coat, so don't let them fool you. We also do a seal coat or stain as requested before the three coats of polyurethane so by that logic I guess we do 4 coats. Also very important is the fact we throughly clean the surface between coats (after screening between coats) with vacuum and microfiber tacking cloth with an added solution of mineral spirits. The tacking technique adds to the quality of the floor due to the problem of foreign matter landing of the floor between coats. It is never perfect but we always aim for perfect.
